GTU Gains Visible Success in Global University Rankings

Gebze Technical University once again demonstrates its scientific productivity and international success by being included in 9 out of 11 lists in the World University Rankings Report published by URAP.

The report titled "The Status of Our Universities in 11 Global Rankings in 2024," prepared by the Middle East Technical University URAP Research Laboratory, has recently been released. According to the report, Gebze Technical University (GTU) achieved remarkable success by being listed in 9 of the 11 different world university rankings published in 2024.

Evaluating a total of 204 universities across Türkiye, the report highlights GTU as one of the prominent research universities standing out for its international academic performance. While 24 Turkish universities were able to appear in 9 or more rankings, GTU distinguished itself with its achievement.

According to the URAP report, GTU was featured in prestigious rankings such as ARWU (Shanghai), CWTS Leiden, NTU, QS, RUR, SCImago, THE, US News & World Report, and URAP itself. This multifaceted visibility clearly reflects the university’s scientific production capacity and the international impact of its publications.

Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, Rector of GTU, stated that the university does not intend to settle for these achievements and aims to climb higher in international rankings in the future. To reach this goal, strategies such as increasing international academic collaborations, recruiting qualified researchers, and enhancing the quantity and quality of scientific publications are being pursued. Prof. Mantar added that GTU’s international success will significantly contribute to Türkiye’s global competitiveness in higher education.

World university rankings evaluate institutions based on numerous criteria, including the number of scientific articles, citation ratios, international collaborations, publications per faculty member, education quality, student satisfaction, institutional reputation, and relationships with the business world. GTU’s high performance across these indicators is regarded as the result of its vision for sustainable academic success.
