The opening of the congress, organized in collaboration with the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) and the international higher education ranking institution Times Higher Education (THE), will be held on June 16–19, 2025, drawing over 5,000 representatives from 110 countries.

The official opening speeches of the congress were delivered by Prof. CoHE President Erol Özvar and THE Chief Global Affairs Officer Phil Baty. The results of the Impact Rankings 2025 of world universities will also be announced during the congress.

The GTU booth was visited by national and international guests, including CoHE President Erol Özvar, who received information about the university and shared their impressions in the guestbook. The interest shown in GTU's sustainability efforts was met with great appreciation.

At this prestigious congress, held for the fourth time, discussions focused on the role of universities within the framework of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting best practices and strategic partnerships in areas such as climate change, socio-economic equality, health, energy, and education.

As part of the “Turkish Universities Pavilion” organized to promote Turkish higher education institutions, universities had the opportunity to showcase their academic offerings and research capabilities.

During the event, GTU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Quezon City University (QCU) from the Philippines, aiming to strengthen cooperation in science, technology, and education. The protocol was signed by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar and QCU Rector Prof. Theresita V. Atienza. With this agreement, the two universities will collaborate in various fields, including student and academic staff exchanges, joint research projects, information sharing, and academic-industrial partnerships.

GTU’s active participation in the event and the signing of this international cooperation protocol underscored the university’s strong commitment to contributing to global sustainability goals.
