Gebze Technical University (GTU) and Istanbul Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School sign a cooperation protocol covering scientific studies, project support, and academic exchange.

The protocol ceremony took place on May 26, 2025, at the GTU Rectorate Meeting Hall, aiming to strengthen collaboration in education. The protocol includes provisions for high school students’ participation in scientific research, access to academic counseling services, and use of university facilities.

Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, GTU Vice-Rector, and Gökhan Karataş, Principal of Cağaloğlu Anatolian High School, signed the protocol on behalf of their institutions.

Scientific Project Support and Academic Sharing

According to the protocol, Cağaloğlu students will have access to GTU’s laboratories, libraries, conference and sports halls under suitable conditions. Each academic year, the university will provide academic mentoring for high school students on scientific project preparation. GTU faculty members will also deliver scientific presentations to teachers and students and support seminars, panels, and conferences targeting students, educators, and parents.

Students’ Professional Development To Be Supported

The protocol also foresees organizing campus visits to guide students’ career orientation, supporting student projects with university resources, planning professional development training for teachers, and potentially establishing a “Scientific Advisory Board” composed of representatives from both institutions.

This collaboration aims to introduce high school students to the university environment early, encourage scientific thinking, and contribute to their academic development.

Following the signing ceremony, Principal Gökhan Karataş presented Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş with a traditional "Sultan's Caftan with Roses" marble artwork. The event came to an end with a commemorative photo session.
