A successful case study competition is organized by the GTU Operations Research Society, with the team “Vakanüvis” taking first place.
The “Greenpoint: Data Center Location Problem” case study competition, hosted by Gebze Technical University (GTU) Operations Research Society, was successfully held at the Industrial Engineering Building. A total of 6 teams and 18 participants competed fiercely, with the “Vakanüvis” team emerging as the winner.
This important event, conducted within the scope of the ÜNİDES program, challenged participating students to develop innovative solutions to the complex decision problem of “Economic Data Center Selection.” Contestants conducted analytical and strategic evaluations considering multiple criteria such as cost, accessibility, infrastructure, and sustainability in choosing the optimal location for data center investment.
The competition jury included prominent figures from industry and academia. The jury panel featured Turkcell Director İrfan Kurtulmuşlar, OmniCon General Manager Buğra Pekuslu, and Assistant Professor Ahmed Burak Paç from GTU's Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, who carefully evaluated the students’ work. The jury members expressed their satisfaction that this high-quality evaluation process, bringing together academia and industry, provided students with the opportunity to demonstrate their advanced analytical skills. |
