Faculty of Architecture at Gebze Technical University (GTU) hosts a significant event that spotlights current research and scholarly practices in the field of architectural history.
Organized by Assoc. Prof. Seda Kula and Asst. Prof. Ezgi Yavuz, faculty members in the Architectural History Program under the Department of Architecture at GTU's Faculty of Architecture, the event titled “Research and Conversations in Architectural History” took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Orange Amphitheater in the Faculty's Block N. Bringing together a panel session where academics shared their insights and a series of thesis presentations by graduate students, the event fostered a productive academic environment.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Elif Özlem Aydın, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Assoc. Prof. Seda Kula, followed by an introduction to the Architectural History Program. The panel session titled “Research and Studies in Architectural History: Conversations and Experiences” featured prominent scholars including Elvan Altan Altuğ, Cengiz Can, Nezih Aysel, Yasin Fahjan, Gül Cephanecigil, Seda Kula, Jale Beşkonaklı, and Ezgi Yavuz. The experts engaged in an interactive dialogue with the participants, sharing their perspectives on contemporary trends and developments within the discipline of architectural history.
Following the lunch break, the event continued with thesis presentations by graduate students. In the first session, Fatıma İkbal Polat, Kübra Kula, and Zülal Gürbüz presented their research, while the second session featured Ahsennur Yalçın, Efnan Küskü, and Selinay Kılıç Zorba. These presentations offered participants a closer look at the original contributions of young researchers to the field of architectural history.
