A Youth March and a ceremony program organized as part of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day are held with great enthusiasm at Gebze Technical University (GTU).
The celebration, which began on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the GTU Festival Area, continued with a Youth March accompanied by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Band. Following the march, a ceremony held in front of the Rectorate spread the excitement of the holiday across the campus.
GTU Rector: “We must cherish and collectively uphold our state.” Delivering a speech during the ceremony, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized the importance of national unity and the notion of statehood:
“We respectfully commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all our martyrs and veterans, and we express our gratitude for this homeland they entrusted to us. Recent developments in our region have once again shown us how precious the state is. We may not have experienced what it means to be without a state, but we witness its painful consequences around us. That is why protecting our country and our people is our greatest responsibility. May 19 is the youth’s holiday, but it belongs to everyone from 7 to 70. I am very pleased to be with you on this meaningful day.”
GTU Family Gathers for the Celebration The event was attended by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, the university’s senior administration, academic and administrative staff, and teachers and students from Minik Çınar Kindergarten. Participants enthusiastically sang along with the marches performed by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Band, filling the ceremony area with a festive spirit. |
