Gebze Technical University (GTU) takes a significant step toward shaping its vision for the next five years by organizing a comprehensive “Search Conference” on May 17–18, 2025, at Bayramoğlu Hegzegone Hotel. This strategic gathering, led by Prof. Oğuz Barbüroğlu from Sabancı University and Arama (Search) Institute, brings together 40 internal stakeholders from the university and 20 external stakeholders from leading institutions and organizations in various sectors.
Fruitful Discussions With a Broad Participant Profile The conference hosted a wide range of participants representing all dynamics of the university ecosystem. External stakeholders included representatives from Kocaeli Health and Technology University, Enarge, Turkish Chemical Manufacturers Association, Özyeğin University, Carlus Consulting, and Telos Angels, as well as major institutions from industry, research, and defense sectors such as TÜBİTAK Basic Sciences Research Institute, Arçelik/Research, Medipol University, Hayat Kimya R&D, Tüm Ekip Pharmaceuticals, Altobio, Turkish Aerospace Aviation Structurals, Coşkunöz Holding, Aksan Software, Kazes Cosmetics, BİLGEM, TRMotor, CTech, the Ministry of National Defense CBRN, Gebze Chamber of Commerce, and TÜBİTAK MAM. This diversity enabled the development of a multi-faceted perspective in shaping the university’s future goals.
A Strategic Roadmap Shaped Through an Intensive Program The two-day conference program was designed to encourage active engagement among participants. The first day began with “Opening Remarks, Introductions, and Methodology Explanation,” followed by a brainstorming session on “Future Perspectives: Trends.” During the session titled “Change Agenda: Future Perspectives and Current Situation Group Work,” participants carried out a thorough analysis of the university’s current status and future potential. In the afternoon, the sessions “Evaluation of Shared Wisdom” and “Future Design I: GTU Group Work” focused on generating concrete proposals.
The second day continued with group presentations and evaluations of integrated group work. Afternoon sessions included “Future Design II: Group Work” and “Strategic Roadmap (Projects) Group Work,” during which action plans and projects were developed to achieve the outlined goals. Concluding with “Group Presentations and Closing,” the conference produced innovative ideas and tangible strategic proposals aimed at maximizing the university’s potential after an intense and productive two days.
A Strong Vision for the Future The GTU Search Conference marked an important starting point in strengthening the university’s scientific and technological infrastructure while enhancing its competitiveness on national and international platforms. The topics addressed and the ideas generated during the conference will form the foundation of GTU’s strategic plan for 2025 and beyond. Thanks to the participants’ diverse experiences and insights, valuable steps were taken to further advance the university’s competencies in education, research, community service, and industry collaboration.
Through such participatory events, Gebze Technical University continues to build strong ties with its stakeholders and reaffirms its commitment to achieving its future goals. The conference outcomes are expected to make significant contributions to the university’s vision of becoming a more sustainable, innovative, and socially impactful institution. |
