On May 11, 2025, the 2nd "Stay with Science and Love" event organized by the Social Impact and Sustainability Coordination Offices of Gebze Technical University (GTU) is held with the participation of young people aged 10-18 from Sevgi Evleri (Child Protection Agencies), with the theme of environmental awareness and sustainability.
Held on the ground floor in Block N at GTU's Faculty of Architecture, the event aimed to address the concepts of science, sustainability, and social responsibility through various workshops and seminars for the young participants and to cultivate scientifically-minded individuals.
The event began with the "Take Good Care of the World" seminar, which introduced the basics of sustainable living. Participants created eco-friendly solutions through recycling projects such as painting glass jars, making grass-heads from plastic bottles, and producing plant pots in the "Recycle and Create" workshop.
In the "What We Wear and What We Eat" workshop, hands-on activities on the water footprint of clothing and microorganisms were conducted.
Through activities such as the Sturgeon Protection Program, Orienteering on the Green Campus, and Discovering Edible Plants, participants gained information on biodiversity conservation.
At the end of the event, volunteers from the university and expert academics distributed sustainability-themed gifts such as water bottles, pins, and bags to the participants. The event concluded with the message: "The future is ours, let's protect it together."
