The Alumni Mentorship Program, recently launched at Gebze Technical University (GTU), features Turkcell executive and GTU alumnus Hakan Balaban as its first guest. The program centers on leveraging alumni support in students’ career planning.
First Alumni Meeting Held Launched for the first time by the GTU Alumni Coordination Office, the Alumni Mentorship Program was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at GTU’s Güzide Campus Cafe. The first guest of the program, moderated by GTU Alumni Office Coordinator Neslihan Başaran (PhD), was Hakan Balaban, a graduate of the Master’s Program in Electronics Engineering and Associate Director of Network Data Centers at Turkcell.
Sharing Career Experience During the event, Hakan Balaban shared his career journey with students, starting from his university years to his internship experiences, transitions in professional life, and leadership processes. The meeting, held in a warm and sincere atmosphere, also featured an open Q&A session, where Balaban answered students’ questions candidly.
Direct Communication with Alumni The mentorship program, designed on a voluntary basis, aims to enable students to engage directly with alumni in shaping their career plans. The program offers opportunities to learn from real industry experience, gain professional inspiration, and build a network.
Program To Continue The program, which began with Hakan Balaban, is set to continue and will be expanded to include graduates from various departments in the coming period. The ultimate goal is to provide GTU students with continuous and direct guidance from alumni. |
