GTU Meets With Industrialists

Gebze Technical University (GTU) Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, Vice-Rectors Prof. Mahmut Durmuş and Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, meet with regional directors and representatives of the Organized Industrial Zones (OSB) to discuss strengthening university-industry collaboration and developing joint projects, particularly in the area of green transformation.

 

The event, held on GTU's campus, was organized to enhance university-industry collaboration, develop joint projects that will contribute to the regional economy, and share the university's competencies in the area of green transformation with industrialists.

 

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized the importance of strong ties between the university and industry. He stated, "The deep and meaningful collaborations we will establish with industrial organizations in our region will not only direct our academic knowledge toward the current and future needs of our industry, but will also pave the way for innovative, value-added products that will increase the competitiveness of our industry." Rector Mantar also highlighted that GTU's highly-skilled academic staff and its expertise in green transformation, which is critical for achieving sustainability goals in industry, will make significant contributions to the industrial sector.

 

Prof. Mahmut Durmuş detailed GTU’s extensive infrastructure and its interaction with industry in his speech. He mentioned that the university's state-of-the-art laboratories could support industrialists’ R&D efforts. "By maintaining close contact with our industrial organizations, we can produce solutions tailored to their needs and help them make their production processes more efficient. Particularly, in the global green transformation process, our university’s multidisciplinary expertise in engineering, fundamental sciences, and social sciences will guide our industry in transitioning to environmentally-friendly and sustainable production models," Prof. Durmuş said. He also expressed the university's readiness to share its expertise in energy efficiency, waste management, circular economy, and clean technologies with industrialists and to develop joint projects.

 

After the meeting, the participants toured GTU’s advanced research laboratories, examining the technological facilities, including those in the area of green transformation. During the laboratory visits, academics provided detailed information on ongoing research projects and potential collaborations with industrialists.
