The project titled “Determination of the Effect of the Newly-Identified DEK3 Isoform on the Transcriptional Profile of the MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cell Line,” to be conducted under the supervision of Emrah Özçelik (PhD), Research Assistant at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Gebze Technical University (GTU), and advised by Prof. Ayten Kandilci, is awarded funding under the TÜSEB Group A Urgent R&D Support Program.
Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to analyze the impact of the overexpression of a newly-identified isoform of the DEK protein—previously detected in the Molecular Hematology Laboratory directed by Prof. Ayten Kandilci—on the transcriptome profile of breast cancer cells, and to identify the genes directly or indirectly regulated by this new DEK isoform. The data obtained will be evaluated together with the results of the newly-approved TÜBİTAK 1002-A project of Açelya Yaşar, a PhD student in the Molecular Hematology Laboratory, and are expected to contribute to the identification of potential novel therapeutic target genes for breast cancer treatment.
Emrah Özçelik is also contributing to inter-university collaboration as a “Researcher” in the TÜSEB Group A Urgent R&D Project led by Asst. Prof. Öykü Gönül Geyik from the Department of Medical Biology and Genetics at Istinye University. |
