The project titled "Investigation of the Estradiol Response of DEK-Suppressed MCF7 Breast Cancer Cell Line via RNA Sequencing," proposed and led by Açelya Yaşar as part of her doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Ayten Kandilci, Faculty Member, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Gebze Technical University (GTU), has been awarded support under TÜBİTAK’s 1002-A Rapid Support Module. The project will also contribute to the advancement of inter-university collaboration, with Assoc. Prof. Özlen Konu from Bilkent University’s Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics serving as an advisor for data analysis to support the successful completion of the project.
The long-term goal of the research project is to determine the role of the DEK gene in the estrogen signaling pathway, which plays a critical role in breast cancer development. To this end, RNA sequencing technology will be used to examine how the expression of genes involved in the estrogen pathway is affected when DEK expression is suppressed in breast cancer cells. The data obtained will contribute to building the knowledge base necessary for the development of more effective projects aimed at breast cancer treatment. |
