Gebze Technical University (GTU) Swimming Team achieves significant success at the 5th Halit Ayar Swimming Competition, held by Istanbul Technical University (ITU) between April 2-13, 2025. Competing with a team consisting of 16 athletes, GTU makes a strong impression by winning medals and securing top-eight finishes in various categories.
In the 100-meter breaststroke event, Doğa Irmak Ustabaş claimed the silver medal with an outstanding performance. Another standout performer, Yiğit Yamak, reached the podium in three different styles—winning bronze in the 50-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle events, and silver in the 100-meter freestyle. Additionally, Ahmet Şahin contributed to the team’s medal tally by winning bronze in the 100-meter butterfly. The Men’s Team also earned third place in the medley relay team category.
Our mixed freestyle relay team consists of Nur Damla Çetin, Doğa Irmak Ustabaş, Yiğit Yamak, and Ahmet Şahin.
Our men’s freestyle relay team consists of Yiğit Yamak, Bilal Elmas, Efe Durdu, and Ahmet Şahin.
Beyond the medal winners, many GTU swimmers ranked in the top eight in different categories, highlighting the growing strength and competitiveness of GTU’s swimming program. These results have once again underscored the university’s rising performance in the field of swimming. |
