GTU takes steps toward collaboration with Malaysian universities at EURIE 2025 and decides to launch student and academic exchange programs as well as joint graduate programs in September 2025.
The 10th Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE), organized by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), was held this year in Istanbul. As part of the event, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar and Vice-Rector Prof. Elif Damla Arısan attended the 1st Malaysia–Türkiye Interuniversity Forum. During the forum, where numerous bilateral meetings were held regarding international collaborations, significant steps have been taken toward establishing new partnerships.
Speaking at the 1st Malaysia–Türkiye Interuniversity Forum, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar stated that GTU already has collaborations with some of the universities attending the fair, and emphasized that existing MoUs must be actively implemented through visible project cooperation, joint degree programs, collaborative R&D studies, and the organization of joint conferences.
In this context, meetings were held with representatives from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), University Utara Malaysia (UUM), and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) regarding joint degree programs and student exchanges. It was discussed that joint interdisciplinary master’s programs could be designed for the September 2025 term in the fields of artificial intelligence, nanoscience and nanoengineering, and biotechnology.
Additionally, GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Damla Arısan and the GTU International Relations Office held one-on-one meetings with representatives from Universiti Pengurusan Terkemuka, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, and Universiti Sains Malaysia. It has been agreed to sign collaboration agreements and to put them into effect starting from the Fall 2025 Semester through reciprocal academic and student exchange programs.
