Special Event for Forestry Week at GTU

In collaboration with the Social Impact Coordination Office, the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Gebze Technical University (GTU) and the Koshados Sports Club, a "Forest Fire Fighting and Tree Planting Event" is organized as part of Forestry Week.

 

Initially, a "Forest Fire Fighting Training" was held in the Physical Education and Sports Department classroom on the second floor of the Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ayhan Sports Hall. The training, delivered by Gebze Forest Management Deputy Director Hakan Mercan, included both theoretical knowledge and practical fire-fighting techniques for the participants.

 

Following the training, a tree planting event took place in front of the GTU Nilüfer Hatun KYK Female Student Dormitory and at the GTU South Campus. During the event, laurel, sycamore, and maple saplings were planted. GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, faculty members, administrative staff, and students participated in the event. The participants, who planted trees together, contributed to nature and highlighted the significance of Forestry Week.

 

In a statement after the event, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar said, "As part of Forestry Week, from March 21-26, we planted trees that will breathe life into the future in our sustainable green campus. We thank all the students, faculty members, and staff who participated in this meaningful event."

 

Department of Computer Engineering's Forestry Week Event

As part of Forestry Week, approximately 40 saplings were also planted in the garden of the Department of Computer Engineering. Faculty staff and students gathered together to carry out a pleasant and productive activity aimed at contributing to nature. This event both raised environmental awareness and contributed to the campus green areas.
