Gebze Technical University (GTU) achieves significant success by earning Institutional Accreditation from the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) as a result of the evaluation process it conducts.
GTU has become accredited by YÖKAK within the framework of the Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP), which ensures quality assurance in higher education institutions. This success has confirmed that the university meets quality standards in its education, research and development, and administrative processes.
GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar thanked those who have contributed to this success through their dedicated work, stating, "This accreditation is an important indicator of the work carried out by Gebze Technical University with its understanding of academic excellence and sustainable quality. Together with our academic and administrative staff, students, and all stakeholders, we will take our achievements even further."
Thorough Evaluation Process As part of the Institutional Accreditation Program that started in September 2024, a comprehensive evaluation process was conducted at GTU. Evaluation teams appointed by YÖKAK reviewed the university’s strategic plan, Internal Institutional Evaluation Report, and other quality assurance documents. During this process, meetings were held with senior administration, academic and administrative staff, students, and external stakeholders, and GTU's institutional operations were evaluated in detail.
What is the Institutional Accreditation Program? The Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP) is an external quality assurance process that evaluates the quality assurance systems of higher education institutions. The process analyzes education, research and development, management systems, and societal impact processes based on the cycle of planning, implementation, control, and corrective action.
In this context, each year, universities determined by YÖKAK are inspected by evaluation teams, and accreditation decisions are made based on the report prepared at the end of the process. GTU has successfully completed this evaluation process and earned the right to receive Institutional Accreditation.
Quality Assurance Activities at GTU At GTU, quality management is implemented through the Quality Commission, which brings the university's strategic plans to life and continuously improves academic and administrative processes. The university continues its work in key areas such as evaluating education and research activities, establishing a quality assurance system, conducting internal and external evaluation processes, and spreading the culture of quality.
With this important accreditation achievement, GTU has certified its quality-focused management approach among higher education institutions in Türkiye and has taken a step closer to its goals of excellence in education.
