Gebze Technical University (GTU) and Darıca Municipality sign a significant cooperation protocol to use the 150-acre olive grove allocated to the university for sustainable farming practices, social responsibility projects, and educational activities.
The protocol has been signed by GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar and Darıca Mayor Muzaffer Bıyık at the GTU Rectorate Building.
Under the protocol, the olive groves at GTU will be utilized in a way that benefits both the community and academia, without any commercial intentions. The area will be operated in accordance with sustainable agriculture principles and will host projects that support the university’s scientific and educational mission. The protocol specifically aims to offer educational and experiential opportunities for primary, secondary, and special education students. Additionally, social projects benefiting the local community will strengthen the university-community integration.
The olive grove area will also be available for scientific research projects by GTU’s research and application divisions. This will lay the groundwork for important scientific studies in sustainable agriculture and environmental issues.
This protocol serves as a great example of university and municipality collaboration, aiming to make significant contributions to both the environment and society. |
