Gebze Technical University (GTU) brings together sponsors, academics, and volunteer students who contributed to the solidarity events held within the scope of the 3rd Hatay Science, Sports, and Arts Festival in Hatay at Certificate Awarding Ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, who emphasized that the festival was not just an academic event, but also an important gathering point for healing the wounds of the community.
Festival Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Fatma Karaoğlu-Ceyhan expressed her happiness about successfully completing the third edition of the festival and mentioned that they were excited about their future work. In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Ceyhan talked about the plans and improvements for the next festival and thanked everyone who has contributed to the event.
Psychological Counselor Gülçin Birinci, who mentored the project, stated that she was on stage as both a volunteer advisor and an earthquake survivor. She said, "This project has truly been a heart-touching effort. I hope similar projects continue in the future."
Students who actively participated in the Coding, Robotics, Science, Handicrafts, Design, Music, and Sports workshops held as part of the festival were presented with certificates of appreciation according to their working groups. Additionally, certificates of appreciation were given to companies supporting the project, including TÜRKİYE ŞİŞE ve CAM Factories, Polisan Kansai Boya, Adel/Faber-Castell, Milhans Gıda, Gebze Public Transport Union (GETAB), Tuzla Municipality, Dilovası İMES OSB, and Sima Foreign Trade.
Academics who contributed to the realization of the project, such as Assoc. Prof. Fatma Karaoğlu Ceyhan, Prof. Mustafa Türkmen, Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, Prof. Meral Elçi, Asst. Prof. Merve Mocan, Ünal Dursun, and Psychological Counselor Gülçin Birinci, were also presented with certificates of appreciation. Students who played an active role in the festival were called to the stage and awarded certificates of appreciation.
The program ended with participants and students posing for a group photo on stage, and the event concluded with a song performed by Ünal Dursun.
