Seminar organized for academics, researchers, and students addresses methods for protecting inventions and patent processes.
Gebze Technical University (GTU) has held a seminar titled “Patent Process in Universities: A Guide to Protecting Your Inventions” to raise awareness about intellectual property rights and patent procedures. Organized by the GTU Research Coordination Office, the event took place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Amphitheater 2 of the Electronics Engineering Building.
In the opening session, GTU Research Coordinator Sevcan Işıkay (PhD) provided information about the activities of the Research Coordination Office, national projects, and student research projects.
Following this, European Patent Attorney Onur Ömer Söğüt (PhD) informed participants about patent processes and intellectual property rights. Addressing topics such as how to protect inventions, the stages of the patent application process, and the management of intellectual property rights in universities, Söğüt also answered participants’ questions.
Serving as a significant guide for academics, researchers, and students, the seminar provided insights into protecting and commercializing innovative ideas. |
