Results of the Esri Türkiye Young Scholars Competition 2025 are announced. Büşra Demirci, a Geomatics Engineering student at GTU, receives the highest score from the jury and wins first place.

The Esri Türkiye 2025 Young Scholars Competition was held on February 15, 2025, in Ankara, featuring 12 projects selected from undergraduate and graduate student applications across Türkiye. Büşra Demirci, a senior-year student from GTU's Department of Geomatics Engineering, has secured first place with the highest jury score. With this achievement, she has earned the right to represent Türkiye as a young scholar at international events in San Diego, USA.

Under the supervision of Prof. Arif Çağdaş Aydınoğlu from GTU's Faculty of Engineering, Büşra Demirci has won the first prize with her presentation titled "Development of GeoAI-Based Application Analysis Tools and a Building Energy Performance Score Prediction Model." The project involves the development of a Python-based ArcPy software toolbox for artificial intelligence techniques applicable to Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. The sample study utilizes web scraping and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to generate datasets representing building energy performance parameters. Through machine learning techniques and performance metrics, the most suitable model for predicting building energy performance has been identified. Additionally, web dashboards have been developed to share the results effectively.

As the world's leading Geographic Information System (GIS) company, Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute) Türkiye organizes the Young Scholars Competition annually. Since 2022, GTU's Geomatics Engineering students, working in the Geographic Information Technologies Laboratory, have consistently achieved top rankings in all competitions they have participated in. We congratulate our advising academic nd students for their outstanding achievements and wish them continued success!
