GTU Academics Share Insights Into MARTEST's Works in Yalova

On the anniversary of the February 6th earthquakes, GTU academics once again highlight the importance of resilient and resistant cities.

 

Asst. Prof. Ceren Özer-Sözdinler and Asst. Prof. Ahmet Anıl Dindar from the Department of Civil Engineering at Gebze Technical University (GTU) have provided information about the MARTEST project and GTU's ongoing studies in Yalova at a conference titled "Creating Disaster-Resilient Cities with the MARTEST Project After the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes: The Yalova Example", organized by the Yalova Municipality.

 

The event, held at the Özgecan Aslan Hall of the Raif Dinçkök Cultural Center in Yalova, was attended by Yalova Deputy Governor Soner Kırlı, Karamürsel Training Center and Garrison Commander Rear Admiral Mehmet Tahir Göncüoğlu, Mayor Mehmet Gürel, and other local officials, civil society organizations, and citizens. During the event, GTU academics shared information about the upcoming work within the MARTEST, including the earthquake and tsunami risks in the East Marmara Region, the development of an augmented reality-based mobile tsunami evacuation application for Yalova, and studies on liquefaction and building damage.
