GTU Turkish Folk Music Choir Brings Anatolian Melodies to Life on Campus

Turkish Folk Music Choir Concert organized by Gebze Technical University (GTU) Social Impact Coordination Office gives the audience an evening full of the unique melodies of Anatolia. Under the leadership of Conductor Ünal Dursun, the choir, consisting of GTU students, academic and administrative staff, delivers an unforgettable performance.


GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, who made the opening speech of the concert held at GTU Congress Center's White Hall on January 11, 2025, drew attention to the social impact mission of the university and stated the following: "Turkish Folk Music is one of the strongest bonds of our culture. This concert crowns the unifying power of music and our university's mission of being a center that inspires the society. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed and express my gratitude to our audience for adding meaning to this night with their participation."


In the concert, songwriters and composers who have created unforgettable works of Turkish Folk Music were commemorated. While the audience had moments full of emotion, they accompanied the songs enthusiastically from time to time.

 

The concert was held with intense participation by GTU's top administration, students, academic and administrative staff and their families as well as Turkish Folk Music enthusiasts. After the concert, Prof. Mahmut Durmuş presented a plaque to artist Ünal Dursun, while Social Impact Coordinator Prof. Meral Elçi presented flowers.
