January 8, 2025 - GTU Office of Press and Public Relations

A project led by Gebze Technical University Department of Physics Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Serkan Büyükköse is accepted and to be supported under the "High-performance Carbon-based composites with Smart properties for Advanced Sensing Applications (EsSENce)-CA19118" action of the "2515-COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology Program".

Under the project titled "Development of Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW)-Based MEMS Gas Sensors with Graphene Oxide-Doped Graphitic Carbon Nitride (GO-GCN) Sensors, presented under the "High-performance Carbon-based composites with Smart properties for Advanced Sensing Applications (EsSENce)-CA19118" action of the 2515-COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology Program, a GO-doped GCN based hybrid sensor layer will be produced and integrated into surface acoustic wave sensor platforms, and detection tests will be carried out against gases such as NO2, NH3 and H2S, which have serious effects on public health and environmental pollution.

Alp Kılıç, a research assistant at the Department of Physics, who has contributed significantly to the development of the project proposal, and Prof. Savaş Berber, Faculty Member, Department of Physics, will also take part in the project as researchers. In addition, Assoc. Prof. M. Kemal Bayazıt and Oğuz Bayındır (PhD) from Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) will be included in the project as researchers.
