Year 2024 Evaluation and Trainer's Training Meeting Held

Gebze Technical University (GTU) brings together academics in Research and Teaching Assistants staff within the scope of the "Year 2024 Evaluation Meeting" held on January 7, 2025. At the meeting held at GTU Congress and Cultural Center's White Hall, matters related to the evaluation of end-of-term activities and  increasing of competency-based approaches are discussed.

GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Damla Arısan, who made the opening speech of the meeting, emphasized the goals of increasing academic quality and the importance of collaboration. The main points of Prof. Arısan's speech, in which she gave important messages about the university's achievements during the year 2024 and future goals, are as follows:

The achievements of 2024 and thanks

Prof. Arısan thanked for the successes achieved as a result of the devoted work of academics and emphasized the important rankings, especially in national projects. She stated that it is a proud development that GTU ranks high in Türkiye with its academic outputs.

Overcoming challenging processes

Professor stated that the university went through challenging processes such as website renewal, site visits, and institutional changes during 2024, but that positive results were achieved from all these efforts.

Projects and innovative approaches

Prof. Arısan also called for projects towards academics and students, emphasizing that research projects contribute to both individual career development and the overall success of the university. She also emphasized the importance of projects that contribute to society.

Education and competency development

Professor asserted that efforts will be made to increase the competencies of academics and students by maintaining the university's understanding of quality education. She underlined the importance of trainings on communication, presentation skills, and academic quality.

Vision for the future

Prof. Arısan also said that GTU is moving forward in line with goals such as improving its physical infrastructure, increasing social opportunities and student satisfaction, and shared her belief that the university will move to higher levels as a competitive research university.

Effective presentation techniques get shared

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özbil, Faculty Member of the Institute of Biotechnology, guided the participants on preparing and presenting effective scientific presentations with his presentation titled "Preparing and Presenting Effective Scientific Oral and Poster Presentations".
