As part of the bilateral cooperation project conducted under the 2525 BMBF-TÜBİTAK program between Germany and Türkiye, the closing meeting of the project titled "Satellite Gravimetry and Applications" is hosted by the GTU's Department of Geomatics Engineering.

The closing meeting of the project, held on November 19, 2024, at the Conference Hall of the Gebze Technical University's (GTU) Department of Geomatics Engineering, stands out as a significant example of academic collaboration in the fields of remote sensing and geosciences under the framework of the 2525 BMBF-TÜBİTAK program between Germany and Türkiye.

During the meeting, an introductory presentation on the bilateral cooperation project was delivered by Associate Professor Ali Levent Yağcı from the Department of Geomatics Engineering. Following this, Dr. Christoph Förste provided detailed insights into GFZ Potsdam's research on satellite gravity missions and superconducting gravimetry. Dr. E. Sinem İnce van der Wal's presentation on high-resolution global gravity field modeling was met with great interest.

In the subsequent sessions, studies on climate change projections and water storage estimates based on GRACE/GRACE-FO and ground observations over Türkiye were presented by Prof. Mustafa Tuğrul Yılmaz and Çağatay Çakan from METU.

The program concluded with discussions on educational and research opportunities for Turkish Geomatics Engineering graduates abroad and at GFZ Potsdam. The meeting successfully fostered an environment for fruitful interaction between academics and students.
