Atatürk Remembered with Respect and Gratitude

An event is held at Gebze Technical University (GTU) to commemorate the 86th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

 

On the occasion of the 86th anniversary of the passing of the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a commemoration program was organized by GTU’s Social Impact Coordination Office, the GTU Music and Arts Society, and the GTU Cultural Development Society. The ceremony took place in the White Hall of the GTU Congress and Cultural Center and was attended by GTU Vice-Rectors Prof. Elif Damla Arısan and Prof. Mahmut Durmuş, GTU Rector's Adviser and Social Impact Coordinator Prof. Meral Elçi, academic and administrative staff, and students. The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by the opening speech by Prof. Elif Damla Arısan, Vice-Rector of GTU.

 

During the event, students from Özel Minik Çınar Kindergarten displayed their work, while historian and author Recep Kangal gave a talk on “Atatürk in Kocaeli.” The program was concluded with a poetry reading and a mini concert featuring live performances of songs loved by Atatürk, presented by the GTU Music and Arts Society and the GTU Cultural Development Society.
