At Gebze Technical University (GTU), renowned for its green nature and sustainable resources, the olive harvest takes place at the GTU Olive Grove. The 4th Traditional Olive Harvest Festival is celebrated with the participation of GTU students, academic and administrative staff, and guests.
The olives, harvested annually from GTU's campus, are processed into olive oil, reflecting the institution's commitment to preserving centuries-old natural wealth, raising awareness about natural products, and promoting sustainability. These products are offered to national and international visitors throughout the year. This year's harvest was graced by the presence of Gebze District Governor Mehmet Ali Özyiğit, Kocaeli Metropolitan Deputy Mayor Hasan Soba, Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, Gebze District Director of National Education Şenol Pekgöz, Çayırova Seed Certification Testing Manager Ferhat Han, and representatives from various institutions and organizations, who shared in the bounty of the harvest. The festival was organized with contributions from the GTU Social Impact Coordination Office and the GTU Sustainability Office. |
