Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Business World Held

A workshop titled "Artificial Intelligence Applications in the Business World" is organized by the Technology Transfer Office at Gebze Technical University (GTU). The event, which focuses on the applicability of artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors, especially in aviation, retail, and industrial applications, is held at the GTU Congress Center with broad participation.

 

The opening speeches of the workhop were delivered by Prof. Yusuf Sinan Akgül and Assoc. Prof. Yakup Genç. During the event, examples of EU-supported R&D projects were presented, and the advantages AI offers to businesses were discussed. The workshop featured three sessions:

 

1: Artificial Intelligence in Aviation Applications
Moderated by Dr. İsmail Uzun from INOSENS, this session featured presentations from Gökhan Koç from TAV Tech, Dr. Sibel Malkoş from SIEMENS A.Ş., and Mehmet Dağlı from NETAŞ, focusing on AI-based approaches and IoT solutions in the aviation industry.

 

Session 2: Artificial Intelligence in the Retail Sector
In this session chaired by Prof. Kemal Özkan, Hacer Özmen Yılmaz from Teknasyon discussed sentiment analysis in customer communication, while Emre İpek from INOSENS spoke about AI-based mmWaveRadar/LiDAR sensor applications. Süheyla Türkyılmaz from Sabancı University's EEN provided insights into collaborative projects and the support offered by the Enterprise Europe Network.

 

Session 3: AI Platforms in Industrial Applications
Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Yakup Genç, this session included presentations from Erkan Özkan, R&D Manager at SAMM Technology, who discussed fiber-optic-based distributed acoustic systems, and Dr. Kürşat İnce from HAVELSAN, who shared knowledge about the application of AI in predictive maintenance for industrial fields.

 

The workshop provided an important platform for professionals, academics, and students to explore the potential of AI in the business world, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and projects.
