Gebze Technical University (GTU) brings together its graduates from various years at the Alumni Get-Together held on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The event, which takes place at the GTU Congress Center, sees participation from many alumni, including Osman Boyraz, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure and a GTU graduate. The opening speeches by Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar and Deputy Minister Osman Boyraz, along with a presentation by Alumni Office Coordinator Dr. Neslihan Başaran, mark the event, and the foyer area showcasing student projects attract significant interest. GTU administration, academic and administrative staff, alumni, and their families gather for the occasion.
In his speech, Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar emphasized the importance of alumni in the university's success. He noted that alumni are tangible examples of the university's mission and highlighted the significance of mentoring programs initiated to enhance alumni-student interaction. The Rector stated, “The successes of our alumni contribute not only to their careers, but also to the development of society. We proudly carry the name of our university with your achievements. Strengthening this family bond is a shared responsibility for all of us. We believe that we will achieve even greater successes together.”
Deputy Minister Osman Boyraz expressed that graduating from GTU is a great source of pride for him. He pointed out that the success of alumni in the industry is important for the university's prestige and stressed the significance of guiding young people through events like mentoring programs. He continued his speech by saying, “The experiences of our alumni are valuable in opening horizons for current students. It is crucial to share this knowledge and experience through career meetings. I see that GTU graduates have a significant impact on making important decisions in our country. I believe it would always be beneficial for the alumni to meet with students.”
Additionally, the student projects showcased in the foyer received great interest, allowing alumni to closely examine the projects.
During the event, GTU Alumni Office Coordinator Dr. Neslihan Başaran provided information about the activities aimed at graduates. The presentation covered topics such as the support provided by the university, the Alumni Card application, and special advantages for alumni. Following this, Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar and Deputy Minister Osman Boyraz were invited to the stage to be presented with their Alumni Cards, and also plaques were presented to graduates who had completed more than 25 years since their graduation.
The event concluded with a warm gathering at the GTU Pond Area, where alumni and their families came together. Participants expressed their happiness at reconnecting with the university and made plans to meet again at the next alumni get-together.
