GTU's environmental volunteers collect waste to raise social awareness for a clean environment.
Participating as stakeholders in the European Mobility Week and World Cleanup Day event organized by Gebze Municipality at the Historic Hünkar Meadow, GTU Social Impact Coordination Office and GTU Young TEMA Society contributed to environmental awareness by collecting waste.
The event, held on World Cleanup Day 2024, saw participation from Gebze officials, GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar, Social Impact Coordinator Prof. Meral Elçi, and members of the GTU Young TEMA Society. Prof. Mantar emphasized the university's commitment to contributing socially and culturally alongside its research and education capabilities.
Prof. Meral Elçi highlighted that the event aimed to make our surroundings cleaner and instill environmental awareness in participants. She said, "Together with volunteers, we have acted with the consciousness of protecting nature's beauty, emphasizing the importance of sustainable actions for the future."
Prof. Elçi also stated, "Participants shared the excitement of working together for a clean environment while exploring ways to leave a greener, more sustainable world for future generations. GTU will continue to support such initiatives to enhance environmental awareness and contribute to sustainability. Thank you to all participants and supporters for this important step in building a shared future."
