Solid Support from GTU for İMES Career Days

GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar signs the İMES Career Days Cooperation Protocol.

 

As part of the activities of the Gebze Technical University Career and Professional Development Research and Application Center (KAGEM), a significant step for cooperation was taken to support the "İMES Career Days" event, which will be held at the İMES Organized Industrial Zone on September 26-27, 2024. GTU Rector Prof. Hacı Ali Mantar attended the İMES OSB Board Meeting and signed the İMES Career Days Cooperation Protocol during a session chaired by Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş.

 

Stakeholders Get Together

The meeting, held at the İMES OSB Headquarters, was attended by Dr. Metin Kubilay, Dilovası District Governor; Hasan Soba, Deputy Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality; Zinnur Büyükgöz, Mayor of Gebze; Ramazan Ömeroğlu, Mayor of Dilovası; Kocaeli University Rector Prof. Nuh Zafer Cantürk; İMES OSB Chairman Ahmet Tokkan; MARKA President Mustafa Çöpoğlu; KOUKAGEM Director Prof. Bilsen Bilgili; İMES OSB Board Members; and GTU KAGEM Director Prof. Mustafa Türkmen.

 

Purpose of the Protocol and GTU’s Contributions: Key Role for KAGEM

The aim of the protocol is to address the human resource needs of regional companies by organizing a career fair that will bring together job seekers and employers, particularly in sectors with labor shortage. This will offer job opportunities to local citizens while meeting the workforce demands of companies in the region.

 

GTU KAGEM will play an important role in contributing to this event. The university will conduct extensive promotional and outreach activities to ensure active participation of students, while faculty members will guide students with their expertise. Additionally, internships and job opportunities will be introduced to students as part of university-industry collaboration, with efforts made to increase career opportunities with industrial organizations.

 

Broad Participation

The İMES Career Days, supported by the Kocaeli Governorate, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaeli University, Dilovası District Governorate, Gebze Municipality, Dilovası Municipality, Gebze Chamber of Commerce, İŞKUR, MARKA, İMES OSB, and the Human Resources Solidarity Association, will host 115 companies. The event is seen as a significant step toward addressing the regional labor shortage.
