KUAM Meets the Women of GTU

GTU’s Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center organizes an event to strengthen the ecosystem of happy employees, bringing together female staff members as part of its efforts to make GTU a women-friendly campus.


At the event organized by Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (KUAM), female staff members of Gebze Technical University (GTU) gathered for breakfast. The event was attended by GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Damla Arısan, KUAM Director and GTU Environmental Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Nihal Bektaş, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Kyrgyzstan Manas University Assoc. Prof. Nurzat Totubayeva, and academic and administrative staff.


At the beginning of the event, which was held to introduce KUAM to the female staff, discuss the activities carried out by the center, and determine future initiatives based on the requests of the female staff, KUAM Director Prof. Nihal Bektaş delivered a welcoming speech. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of conducting joint efforts across the campus to balance gender equality and expressed her belief that challenges and difficulties would be resolved together.


At the event, GTU Sustainability Office Coordinator Prof. Melek Özkan and GTU Impact Office Coordinator Prof. Meral Elçi shared information about their respective offices. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Kyrgyzstan Manas University, Assoc. Prof. Nurzat Totubayeva, expressed her pleasure in being at GTU and participating in the event as part of the collaboration.


Addressing the female staff during and at the end of the program, GTU Vice-Rector Prof. Damla Arısan emphasized unity and solidarity, stating that thinking and acting together is the solution to every problem. She thanked all participants, highlighting the importance of their presence.


Following the speeches, Assoc. Prof. Seda İrem Çakırca, a faculty member from the Judicial Science Program, Department of Public Administration and Political Sciences, Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University, delivered a presentation on "Women's Human Rights."
