Academia and Industry Get Together at Fundamental Sciences Festival

Gebze Technical University (GTU) has hosted the "Fundamental Sciences Festival" to raise awareness about scientific research within the university and related sectors, and to create an environment for new collaborations.

As part of the festival, academic studies conducted in the faculty were shared through poster presentations, while sector representatives both shared their knowledge and experiences as invited speakers and showcased their work and projects at the stands they set up.

The event, organized with the participation of all stakeholders from the Faculty of Science, was attended by GTU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Elif Damla Arısan and Prof. Dr. Mahmut Durmuş, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Ramazan Altundaş, as well as the university's academic and administrative staff, students, and leading representatives from the industry.

The event began with a moment of silence and the national anthem in memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, his comrades-in-arms, and all our martyrs, followed by an opening speech by Dean Prof. Dr. Ramazan Altundaş.

In his speech, Altundaş mentioned that the festival, first held in 2022, is being organized for the second time this year. He stated that the event aims to bring together academics and leading companies in the sector, including company introductions and human resources presentations. A limited number of invited companies' human resources, R&D, purchasing, and business development experts would also contribute to the event.

Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Elif Damla Arısan emphasized that universities and the industry must collaborate for the advancement of science and the development of Türkye She pointed out that the Fundamental Sciences Festival is a significant example of such collaboration. Prof. Dr. Arısan highlighted the importance of fundamental sciences for the development of science and technology and added that the festival is an important platform for the advancement of science and increased collaboration with the industry. She also stressed the importance of external stakeholders cooperating with the university and expressed her belief that the festival would be celebrated with even greater enthusiasm each year.

The organizing committee of the event, which aims to raise awareness between the university and related sectors, create an environment for new collaborations, and establish a platform for interdisciplinary research, includes Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Altundaş, Prof. Dr. Oğul Esen, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Necati Ecevit, Prof. Dr. Serap Beşli, Prof. Dr. Yelda Özden Çiftçi, Assoc. Dr. Serkan Büyükköse, and Şermin Keleşoğlu.
