The "International Summit on Artificial Intelligence Practices in Education," organized in collaboration between Gebze Technical University (GTU), the General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies of the Ministry of National Education (YEĞİTEK), and the Education and Change Association (E-DER), took place at the GTU Congress and Cultural Center. The summit aimed to expand the use of artificial intelligence tools in creating educational content, for educational practices, and during assessment and evaluation stages. Attendees included Kocaeli Deputy Governor Abdul Rauf Ulusoy, Gebze District Governor Mehmet Ali Özyiğit, Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, provincial and district national education officials, teachers, and students.
In his opening speech, GTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence in education, discussed the role of technology in education, and emphasized GTU's pioneering position in this field. E-DER President Ali Kocadayı, Marmara University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Ercan Öztemel, General Director of Special Education and Guidance Services at the Ministry of National Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Otrar, and online speakers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Donggil Song and Yoo Insik delivered speeches in the first session.
GTU Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sinan Akgül delivered a presentation on "Artificial Intelligence and Engineering." This session also featured presentations by Dr. Hasan Tınmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Otrar, Mesud Helmut Stahlschmidt, and Osman Kavaf from HAVELSAN.
At the event, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, Dean Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sinan Akgül, representatives of contributing institutions and organizations, and scholars.
Following the speakers' interactive presentations, workshop participants experienced various applications of artificial intelligence tools. Throughout the workshops, practical training sessions were organized on topics such as "Examples of Artificial Intelligence Practices," "Style Transfer Practices," and "Creating Artificial Intelligence Models with Gemini." The trainings, provided by GTU academics, students, and experts from E-DER, covered contemporary artificial intelligence practices and their implementation in education.
