Sustainable Ideas Competition to Give New Life to Carbon Fiber Materials

About the Competition

In a time when sustainable solutions are more necessary than ever, DowAksa has launched an idea competition aimed at university students and professionals. The goal is to incorporate a circular design approach by bringing unused products back into use.

We are seeking practical ideas that can give new life to lightweight and durable carbon fiber pultruded profiles, originally produced for use in wind turbines, within the specified technical parameters.

About Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber is a high-value, strategic material that provides innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges, such as increasing energy production in wind turbines, reducing fuel consumption in automobiles, and extending the lifespan of infrastructure and buildings through reinforcement.

Often referred to as the material of the future, carbon fiber is much stronger and more durable than commonly used metals, while also being lighter. It consists of over 95% carbon atoms, formed into filaments thinner than a human hair.

Carbon fiber-based materials, with their strong yet lightweight properties, are extensively used in emerging industries where energy efficiency, lightness, durability, and low emissions are key performance criteria.
