Free Elective Courses Curriculum Change

A new elective course has been added to the Materials Science and Engineering curriculum to meet the MÜDEK criteria, and the total number of free elective courses has been increased to two. These courses take place in semesters 6 and 7. This change will apply to those who have not successfully completed 160 ECTS, not to those who have successfully completed 160 ECTS.

Those who have successfully completed 160 ECTS:

Students who will take one free elective course are exempt from the requirement of taking the second free elective course, taking one of MUH 391 or MUH 392 courses as compulsory and completing 242 ECTS, and will graduate with 240 ECTS.

Students who have previously taken free elective courses such as sports etc. are exempt from MUH 391 or MUH 392 courses.

Students who have previously taken MUH391 do not need to take another free elective course because they meet the free elective requirement.

Students who have not taken any free elective courses before will take one free elective course; this course can be one of the courses such as sports, etc., MUH 391, MUH 392.

Those who do not successfully complete 160 ECTS:

A total of two free elective courses will be taken.

Within the scope of free elective / interdisciplinary elective course, at least one of MUH391 or MUH392 courses must be taken and passed successfully.

In other words, the courses to be taken can be (sports etc. + MUH391) or (sports etc. + MUH392) or (MUH391 + MUH392).

Students who took MUH391 last fall semester can take one of the sports etc. courses or MUH392 as the second free elective course.

Students who did not take MUH391 last fall semester, but previously took one of the sports etc. courses as a free elective, must take either MUH391 or MUH392.
