Dear GTU Undergraduate Preparatory Program Students,
According to the results of the undergraduate English proficiency exam held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, our international students who are confirmed to study in the Preparatory Program will take the Placement Test on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. This exam, lasting one hour, will be held between 10:00 – 11:00 in Foreign Languages Department Main Building, Classroom 202.
It is very important to attend the placement test in order to determine your English level. If you do not attend, you will have to start directly from the “Elementary” level. Beginning classes without determining your English level will be a major disadvantage for you, as the academic year lasts one full year and you will not have the right to change classes.
It is mandatory for all students to have their student ID and T.C. identity card with them during the exam. In the absence of a student ID, a student certificate obtained from the student affairs office or via the e-Government system will also be accepted. International students must have their passports with them. Students without any form of identification will not be allowed to take the exam.

The class you are placed into after the placement test will be announced on our department website on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Only our international students who registered after September 29 and failed the proficiency exam, thereby being confirmed to study in the Preparatory Program, will take this exam.
