Dear GTU Undergraduate Preparatory Program Students,
According to the results of the undergraduate English proficiency exam held on Monday, September 29, 2025, students who are confirmed to study in the Preparatory Program and students who have enrolled in Turkish-medium departments but are confirmed to study optional English Preparatory will take the Placement Test on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
This exam, which will last for one hour, will be administered between 13:30 – 14:30. Please click to learn where and during which time slot you will take the exam.
It is very important that you attend the placement test in order to determine your English level. If you do not attend, you will have to start classes directly at the “Elementary” level. Beginning classes without determining your English level will be a significant disadvantage for you, since the academic year covers a full year and there will be no right to change classes.
All students are required to bring their student ID and Turkish ID cards to the exam. In the absence of a student ID, a student certificate obtained from the Student Affairs Office or through the e-Government system will also be accepted. International students must bring their passports. Students who do not have any form of ID with them will not be allowed to take the exam.
The class you are placed in after the placement test will be announced on our department’s website by the end of business day on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the latest.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Only students who registered between 22.09.2025 – 26.09.2025 and failed the proficiency exam held on September 29, 2025, as well as students who enrolled in Turkish-medium departments but are confirmed to study optional English Preparatory, will take this exam.
