Dear GTU Undergraduate Preparatory Program Students,
According to the results of the undergraduate English proficiency exam held on Monday, September 15, 2025, students who are confirmed to study in the Preparatory Program will take the Placement Test on Monday, September 22, 2025. This exam, lasting one hour, will be administered in two sessions. The first session will be between 10:00 – 11:00, and the second session between 11:15 – 12:15.

YOU WILL TAKE THE EXAM IN ONLY ONE SESSION. THE REASON FOR HAVING TWO SESSIONS IS THE LARGE NUMBER OF STUDENTS. IN OTHER WORDS, THE EXAM IN BOTH SESSIONS IS THE SAME PLACEMENT TEST, AND EACH STUDENT WILL TAKE THE EXAM IN ONLY ONE SESSION. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHICH SESSION YOU WILL ATTEND. |
Participating in the placement test is very important to determine your English level. If you do not attend, you will have to start directly from the “Elementary” level. Beginning classes without determining your English level will be a major disadvantage for you, as the academic year lasts one full year and you will not have the right to change classes.

Class lists will be announced on our department website during the week of the Placement Test. If you cannot see your name in the class lists, you must apply the same day with an introductory e-mail to yabancidillersinav@gtu.edu.tr

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, orientation sessions of the Department of Foreign Languages will be held for you, our newly registered students. The orientation information is as follows:

It is mandatory for all Preparatory Program students to attend the orientation in order to learn about the functioning of the university and the Department of Foreign Languages and to ask any questions you may have.

AFTER THE CLASS LISTS ARE ANNOUNCED ACCORDING TO THE PLACEMENT TEST RESULTS AND AFTER YOU LEARN AT WHICH LEVEL YOU WILL BEGIN CLASSES, YOU MUST REVIEW THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT WILL BE PUBLISHED ON OUR WEBSITE AND PURCHASE YOUR BOOKS ACCORDINGLY.
