Dear GTU Undergraduate Students,
The English Proficiency Exam will be held face-to-face on Monday, September 15, 2025, between 10:00 – 13:00. The exam duration is 180 minutes.
The exam consists of a total of 80 questions. It will be multiple-choice, covering the sections of listening (note taking & while listening), use of English, vocabulary, and reading. The exam will begin with the “listening” section, and candidates who arrive late will not be admitted to the “listening” part.
All students are required to bring their student ID cards and national ID cards with them to the exam. If the student ID is not available, a student certificate obtained from the Registrar’s Office or the e-government system will also be accepted. International students must bring their passports. Students without any form of identification will not be allowed to take the exam.

The proficiency exam will be administered in 4 different buildings. The information about which building and classroom you will take the exam in will be announced after university registrations are completed. Please regularly check the Foreign Languages Department website to access this information and follow possible updates.

If you are a newly registered student, completing your university registration is sufficient to take the proficiency exam. Students from previous intakes do not need to take any further action.

For students who are required to attend the preparatory program, the Placement Exam will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025. Information about this exam will be shared on our department website after the proficiency exam is completed.
