Dear GTU Undergraduate Students,
The Undergraduate English Proficiency Exam will be held face-to-face on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00. The duration of the exam is 180 minutes.
The exam consists of a total of 80 questions. It is multiple-choice and includes the sections Listening (note taking & while listening), Use of English, Vocabulary, and Reading. The exam will start with the “Listening” section, and candidates arriving late will not be allowed to take the “Listening” section.
It is mandatory for all students to have their student ID and T.C. identity card with them during the exam. In case a student does not have a student ID, a student certificate obtained from the student affairs office or via the e-Government system will also be accepted. Foreign students must have their passport with them. Students without any form of identification will not be allowed to take the exam.
IMPORTANT NOTES
• The proficiency exam will be conducted in 4 different buildings. Information about which building and classroom you will take the exam in will be shared after university registrations are completed. Please regularly check the Foreign Languages Department website to access this information and follow any possible changes.
• If you are a newly registered student, completing your university registration is sufficient to take the proficiency exam. Students who are already registered do not need to take any action.
• For students confirmed to attend the preparatory program, the PLACEMENT TEST will be held on Monday, SEPTEMBER 22, 2025. Information regarding this exam will be shared on our department website after the proficiency exam is completed.
