23 SEPTEMBER 2024 UNDERGRADUATE ENGLISH PREPARATORY CLASS PLACEMENT EXAM INFORMATION

Dear GTU Undergraduate Preparatory Department Students,

There will be a Level Placement Exam on Monday, September 23, 2024 for our students who are confirmed to study in the Preparatory Department according to the results of the undergraduate English proficiency exam held on Monday, September 16, 2024. This exam will last for one hour and will be administered in two sessions. The first session will be held between 10:00 - 11:00 and the second session will be held between 11:15 - 12:15 . YOU WILL TAKE THE EXAM IN ONLY ONE SESSION. THE REASON THE EXAM IS HELD IN TWO SESSIONS IS BECAUSE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS IS TOO LARGE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE EXAM THAT WILL BE HELD IN BOTH SESSIONS IS THE SAME LEVEL PLACEMENT EXAM AND EACH STUDENT WILL TAKE THE EXAM IN ONLY ONE SESSION. PLEASE BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHICH SESSION YOU WILL TAKE THE EXAM IN.

It is very important to take the placement exam to determine your English level. If you do not take the test, you will have to start the lessons directly from the " Elementary " level. Starting the lessons without determining your English level will be a great disadvantage for you. Because the course period will cover one year and you will not have the right to change classes.

Class lists will be announced on our department website no later than Wednesday, September 25, 2024. If you do not see your name on the class lists, you must apply on the same day with an e-mail introducing yourself to yabancidillerogrenci@gtu.edu.tr

ORIENTATION INFORMATION:

After the Level Placement Exam on Monday, September 23, 2024, there will be orientation programs for our newly registered students by the Rectorate and the Foreign Languages Department.

14:00 – 15:00

Foreign Languages Department Introduction

It is mandatory for all Preparatory Department students to attend the orientations specified in the program to learn about the functioning of the university and the Foreign Languages Department and to ask questions. Orientations will be held in the congress center (white hall) Hall 1.

IMPORTANT NOTE

CLASS LISTS DETERMINED ACCORDING TO THE LEVEL PLACEMENT EXAM RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON WEDNESDAY, 24.09.2024 AT THE LATEST. AFTER THE CLASS LISTS ARE ANNOUNCED AND YOU LEARN WHICH LEVEL YOU WILL START THE COURSES AT, YOU MUST REVIEW THE ANNOUNCEMENT WE WILL PUBLISH ON OUR WEBSITE AND PURCHASE YOUR BOOKS.
